[Neku doesn't look happy, and in his arms is a goopy blue blob of a shiny ditto]

So I was hoping it was just one of the weird.... things... this place does some times. But I guess not. Luke fon Fabre has gone home. I got his Ditto and Smeargles, but if anyone got any of his pokemon and aren't willing to look after them just let me know.

[He looks about to turn his camera off, just as the Ditto, squishes closer to his chest, getting in the way]

Ngh, come on, you're not helping...

This isn't the first time I've gotten aban- er, left behind pokemon, but Poro seemed to handle it better- I think that's just because he was so young. Anyone got any advice to handling second handers?

As someone with a veritable menagerie of Pokemon refugees on my roster — it helps to remember that every one is a little different. There's no catch-all solution; they're individuals, just like people are.

Give them the space and the opportunity to show you what they need most. That's what I'd say is step one.

Is the odd one out? I can see how that would make things difficult.

Is Undine close with the Smeargles, at least?

You were good friends, I see.

You and its former trainer.

That sort of person, hm? I've known people like that.

I've inherited their Pokemon, too. It's never easy.

It always does, sooner or later. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to who stays and who doesn't.

As for your little friend, finding a companion for it among your own roster might be the place to start. One with a compatible temperament, that makes it feel calm and safe.

He has? What a terrible shame, both for you and for his Pokémon. Do you happen to have a keepsake of his? Something that still has his smell, to comfort those who are left?

The most recent and most used, the better, but any object should have a positive effect. Let them sleep with it, if possible.

Especially with a shapeshifter who could cover itself in noses if it wished. ...Though I doubt it's in the mood for such transformations, at the moment.

It would certainly cheer up its teammates, both old and new. And I've no doubt they need that cheer.

[Oh. So that's why Roxas got what he got.]

Luke left me his Chatot. He seems pretty sad his trainer is gone... I've got a few others left to me. It's really tough when they get so sad.

Some of them... take it a lot better than others. My friend Naminé left me a few, even though two of them were mine at first. Feather didn't deal well, and I thought she wasn't going to come back when she took off.

... I know I couldn't. I did let a couple go because they weren't happy. I hope Rin won't get mad if he comes back.

[You're getting text because he looks and feels awful right now. Sorry, Neku.]

I've only got one, but... if your new Pokemon was friends with anyone you had before... letting them hang out without the stress of battles around seemed to help.

Not every Pokemon's a battler anyway. Some just prefer being more like pets.

And giving them a name if their last trainer didn't name them also seems to help.

Goldenrod is where I'm trying to get away from right now, actually. There's people I don't want to run into that are there.

... Yes.
